Sorry, I should have mentioned that I was thinking of a song with the line “And breathe, just breathe”. It is sung by Anna Nalick and it’s called “Breathe”.
Yes, breathing is a function controlled mainly by the medulla oblongata and as such is more or less automatic. However, it is also a function over which we have some conscious control as well, which makes it a very interesting physiological function indeed.
Quite often “just breathing” has become compromised by physical and emotional trauma and is no longer as full and as deep as it need to be for optimal health of both these areas. Also, we use our diaphragm as a way to cut off the connection between our upper and lower bodies; symbolically divorcing our minds from our bodies.
All that aside, I really like this photo, and the title really gets across to me the arching form of the breath when it is full and deep.
And breathe, just breathe.
Yes. I realise breathing is supposed to be automatic but I still sometimes have to remind myself. 🙂

Wonderful composition, Ashley. It has the look of a charcoal drawing (rather cruelly 🙂 )

Sometimes, but not always, I name my images with the first thing that comes to mind. When I looked at this one I just kept thinking ‘breathe’.
Good reminder, especially if you are asleep. Woundn’t want to be left out on a limb. 😀
Haha!
