Giant Lifesaver and Me
This was my contribution to Malin‘s latest assignment, Reflections.
You can see the other interpretations here.
My ongoing visual conversation with Richard Guest continues at Between Scarlett and Guest.
And self portraits from around the world continue at strata of the self

It’s very busy, isn’t it? My favourite bit is ‘bite’ in reverse on his lower lip.
I didn’t even notice the words on his lips till you said something,
Thank you for visiting me
Sheldon
I didn’t notice the word myself until someone else pointed it out!
Now that’s what we all need. (I mean a giant life-saver, not you… sorry).
Fully understood, Andrew. 🙂
And what have you done to your blog again?!
Closed it down, actually, meantime (yes, again), other than a display of books. There is a reason.
Well, but restoring around 10 selected pics for each year, but with comments shut down, although my email address is shown. As I said, there is a reason. I’ll still be around looking and commenting here though.
I’m sure you have a reason, Andrew, but I guess you won’t be telling us what it is.
It is a promising and positive reason, fortunately, but no, I won’t be telling. There is a good reason why I won’t be telling, but I won’t be telling that good reason either…
I am sure there is a good reason for the reason, but you have now created an opening to a mystery novel or an Existential Mystery Play and sucked me in. Sigh.
I will now need to seek out a Giant Lifesaver, which is ironic because 1) I was a lifeguard in my long ago youth and 2) our neighbour worked at the Lifesavers Candy factory and would bring over a box full once and a while.
So there is a reason for me commenting on both the post and your conversation, for “The Heart has reasons that the Reason know nothing about.”
I hope all is well with Andrew. 🙂
Very creative composition Ashley – you open the eye to the Heart’s hidden reasons and leave the Reason to ponder in wonderment at truth hidden in the obvious & the daily unnoticed scenes of life. 🙂
There is probably a reason for everything, elmediat, although that is debatable, and yes I am fine thanks.
Andrew meet Joseph; Joseph, Andrew. 🙂
Love this shot – really fabulous composition.
Another old favourite of mine, Richard.
Yes, ‘bite’ on his lower lip! Fantastic. All those details and the wonderful shape of the photographer in reflection. A real beauty, Ashley!
You know, I didn’t see the ‘bite’ until after I’d taken the shot. It certainly adds something to the image. Sometimes things like that happen and I think it’s often the unconscious at work.
