Chair (2016)Ashley Lily Scarlett
Look at all those patterns! Lovely.
What a great personality revealed in this photo.
I kind of see chairs as people too! 🙂
I’d love to have that chair sit in my living room…
It’s gorgeous, isn’t it? It’s sitting out the front of someone’s house.
I’m helping L with her comment (not sure if you’re aware of her condition and aphasia…). She loves this photograph. It makes her smile, the pillow, especially–the position of it, somehow, being off center, and the squares against the floral pattern and all the different angles, and the triangles on the floor. She loves the monochrome. -E.
I’m not sure if I understand. Lemony has aphasia?
Apologies if that sounded stupid. I was taken by surprise. I had no idea. And I’m sorry to hear that.
Thank you both for the lovely comment. It makes me happy to make a person smile. 🙂
Ashley, no worries! Sorry to take you by surprise… Lemony has been very quiet about her situation, although George was pushing her to “out” herself for a long time. She has a progressive neurological condition, and one of its effects is that she is losing her ability to find and organize words (expressive aphasia). Her comprehension, however, is still intact. She loves your photographs, and your collaborations with Richard Guest.–Ezra
Thank you, Ezra, for explaining. I’m truly sorry. It must be very frustrating for the intelligent woman that Lemony is. Good ol’ George, eh? I’m sure Lemony will miss George very much; I know what good friends they were. I’m glad Lemony has you by her side. I’m also glad she’s still taking photographs. My very best wishes to you both. x o x
Thank you, Ashley. Yes, Lemony is really missing George. They communicated almost daily for the last several years.
Ashley – this is just an excellent chair. I love the cushion, its placement, and the way the patterns don’t line up on the seam.
Thanks very much, Melinda. I’m still obsessed with chairs!
I think about you every time I notice a random chair…
I have something like that with yellow – it always makes me think of Peter at documenting the obvious. 🙂
I follow his blog, so I know exactly what you mean.
What a gorgeous seat. And a compelling shot.
It was very pretty in colour but I went with bw for the sake of all those patterns. Thanks, Richard.
Just have to love all the varieties of chairs there are in this world.
Yes indeed. They remind me of people.
up there with van gogh in the “meaningful chair” deparment
How nice! Thank you, and welcome. 🙂
If Santa was real I would ask for this exact chair. But as I understand this already belong to someone else maybe I should reword; ” If Shrink Ray was real and Gru was my friend…” 🙂
love everything about this shot – minimal yet rich in detail… the patterns are so sweet and so diverse… this chair is like a portrait of its owner, very interesting and kinda unique 🙂 wonder now who owns it and what’s her story 🙂
Chairs remind me of people. This one was dumped. 😉
So beautiful. I can’t stop looking.
I love all those patterns. Seemed perfect for black and white. 🙂
